When downloading any file from the internet, several message occur when you download a file with the end with ".exe".

The ending ".exe" actually stands for an executable file and there are probably thousands on your computer already. For example, if you own Microsoft Word, your computer contains a file called "Winword.exe" which is the file that starts the application. Internet Explorer's application file is "iexplore.exe"

So why are there warnings when you download a file with an ending (or extension) of ".exe" from the internet? Software makers want to make sure you trust the files you download and that they do not contain any potential problems for your computers.
